Bora Bora French Polynesia

Bora Bora is an island situated in the Leeward group of the Society Islands of French Polynesia, a French overseas collectivity in the Pacific Ocean. The island is positioned northwest of Papeete and is encircled by a lagoon and a barrier reef. At the heart of the island, you can find the remains of an extinct volcano that rises to two peaks, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, with the latter being the highest point at 727 meters. Bora Bora is a significant international tourist hotspot, renowned for its water-centric luxury resorts. The main settlement, Vaitape, is located on the western side of the main island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Bora Bora is actually a volcanic caldera. Besides the underwater sights in the lagoon, the dominating and uniquely shaped peak of Mount Otemanu, which stands 728 meters above sea level, and its smaller counterpart Mount Pahia, are also notable attractions.
