Phu Quoc Vietnam

To the South of Vietnam, halfway between Vietnam and Cambodia, we find the Island of Phu Quoc (Phu Quoc Vietnamese). Phu Quoc Island, situated in the Gulf of Thailand, is the largest island in Vietnam, but its main tourist attractions are the white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, making Phu Quoc Island a favourite for newlywed Vietnamese couples on their honeymoon. The Phu Quoc island in Vietnam is also known as Dao Ngoc and in Cambodia as Koh Tral. Phu Quoc island is 50 km long and 22 km wide and is home to 85,000 people. The capital of Phu Quoc island is Duong Dong (Dương Đong), located on the northwest side of the island. The other city on the island is called An Thoi (An Thới), located at the southern end (see Map of Phu Quoc). The average temperature on Phu Quoc Island is 28 º C, with the warmest period between April and May, where it can reach 35 º C. Phu Quoc is a natural area with great biodiversity (a UNESCO heritage site since 2006), making this island the perfect place for snorkelling. Almost all the tourist attractions and points of interest in Phu Quoc are in the capital, Duong Dong. Highlights include the Duong Dong lighthouse, a recommended spot for taking photos, Duong Dong market and the pagodas, scattered throughout the island. However, the main attraction of Phu Quoc Island is its white sand beaches. In Duong Dong, there's a beautiful beach, but if you prefer somewhere a bit quieter, you can choose any of the beaches located a little northwest of Duong Dong or a couple of miles south of the city. The rest of Phu Quoc's beaches are in the Southeast, near the town of An Thoi, with the best of them all being (Bãi Sao) Bai Sao beach. View Map of Phu Quoc. One option we recommend is to take a boat and visit any of the adjacent islands, such as Hon Mong Tay Island. One of the best beaches in all of Phu Quoc is called A beach or English Fingernail Beach, but it is located on Hon Mong Tay Island (Hòn Móng Tay), about 10 kilometers south of Phu Quoc.
